The module is aimed at professionals in destination management organisations (DMOs), municipalities, public and private tourism organisations, cultural institutions as well as large and medium size tourism companies (hotels, transportation, destination management companies). The course also caters to professionals with experience in the tourism industry in the greater Copenhagen area within tourism, hospitality and service management looking to build on top of their BA looking to further develop their academic competences.

The course particularly draws on approaches and cases from the Nordic region, where greater responsibility is sought after by policy makers, destination managers, public institutions and guests.
Examples of tools include digital mapping, participatory design and co-design. The course strengthens skills in understanding, exploring and engaging with tourism-related challenges in your field.

We have a focus on working across sectors and activating theories and methodologies in a concrete project, which you will be working on throughout the semester in combination with physical lectures, workshops and teamwork (one 2-day sessions and two 1-day sessions) and online sessions. This will allow you to translate and apply learning directly into real life situations.

In addition to the participation fee, you should expect expenses for literature, meals, transportation, and possibly accommodation.

The admission requirements for the programme consist of two parts. Applicants must meet both an educational level requirement and a requirement for relevant work experience.

Admission to the module requires that the following entry requirements are met:

• A minimum of a relevant higher education qualification (e.g. a bachelor’s degree, professional bachelor’s degree, or diploma qualification).

There is also a requirement of at least two years of programme-relevant work experience obtained after completion of the qualifying education.

Exemptions from the requirement of two years of relevant work experience cannot be granted.

If there are more qualified applicants than the number of study places available, selection will be based on an overall academic assessment of each applicant. This assessment will consider the applicant’s educational background, current and previous job functions, and affiliation with a company, organisation, or institution.

If you do not hold one of the qualifying degrees described in the admission requirements for the programme, you may apply for admission by exemption. The university may grant an exemption from the educational admission requirement if, based on an individual assessment, it is deemed that you have educational qualifications (i.e., another education) equivalent to one of the qualifying degrees. The university cannot grant an exemption from the requirement of two years of relevant work experience.
