Tourism is changing. Destinations, municipalities and tourism businesses are being asked to balance growth with the needs of local communities, nature and culture. Responsible tourism offers ways of doing exactly that, and the new master’s level module at Aalborg University gives you the tools to put it into practice in your own work.
At this free online info meeting, you can meet the people behind the module, hear how it works and ask all your questions before the application deadline on 1 December 2026.
What you will hear about
- What responsible tourism is, and why it matters for destinations and tourism organisations right now
- How the module draws on Nordic approaches to community, regeneration and broader value creation
- How you work on a real challenge from your own organisation or destination throughout the module
- Practical tools you gain, such as stakeholder and issue mapping, digital mapping, participatory design and co-design
- The format, with on-campus seminars in Copenhagen and short online sessions from February to June 2027
- Admission requirements, the application process and what it costs
- There will be plenty of time for your questions.
A module built around your own challenge
The module is not just theory. From the first session, you identify a challenge in your own organisation or destination. Over six sessions, you articulate it, analyse it with real data and develop an intervention or prototype. You end with a project that can make a real difference where you work. Lectures, workshops, group work and supervision give you both academic depth and hands-on methods.
Who is it for? The module is for professionals working in:
- Destination management organisations (DMOs)
- Municipalities and public tourism bodies
- Cultural institutions
- Hotels, transport and other tourism companies
- It is also a good fit if you work in tourism, hospitality or service management and want to build on your bachelor’s degree with a master’s level course.
