'Community in student life' is the overall theme when the Study Environment Council welcomes students to this year's Study Environment Day in Aalborg, Thursday 25 April.
"At AAU, our ambition is for students to have the opportunity to engage in academic and social communities that help strengthen their well-being and commitment throughout their student life. But it's also important to recognise that good communities don't happen by themselves. It takes both the courage to get involved and the energy to maintain good co-operation and behaviour between students. With this year's Study Environment Day, we want to share knowledge, discuss and spar with students about how they can help create a good study environment. I therefore hope that teachers and other employees with close contact to students will support the day by encouraging their students to participate in the event," says Prorector Anne Marie Kanstrup.
Programme schedule
Through welcome presentations and workshops, the Study Environment Council wishes to give the participating students inspiration to step into different communities during their student life. In a plenary presentation from the Student Counselling Service, the stage will be set for discussion about the unique benefits and opportunities of communities and the importance they can have for students. The discussion will also include possible stereotypical and unrealistic expectations of communities.
Afterwards, participants can immerse themselves in one of three workshops that focus on how students can join and create community, how they contribute to good group co-operation and how they deal with cultural differences in teams.
The formal programme concludes with a panel discussion. The panel will consist of students, lecturers and other experts. Participants can submit questions and vote on other students' questions during the course of the day and these will form the basis of the debate.
At the end of the day, the participating students will be served dinner and have the opportunity to play board games with familiar or new fellow students.
All students are welcome
The Rectorate supports the Study Environment Day and wants all students to have the opportunity to participate. In August, a request was therefore sent to make April 25 tuition-free after 2:15 p.m. for students at Campus Aalborg.
Students from Campus Esbjerg are invited to the Study Environment Day in Aalborg.
The Study Environment Day at Campus in Copenhagen will be held on 2 May.
The Study Environment Day in Aalborg takes place partly in both Danish and English. The Study Environment Council thus hopes to see many of AAU's international students at the event.
