About the PhD thesis

Pancreatic cancer is a detrimental disease with few treatment options for the majority of patients. The global incidence is rising, and ad-vances in treatment are merely incremental when compared to those of other cancers. Based on this, novel treatments are highly desired by patients and physicians.
Local treatment with irreversible electroporation has been proposed as a treatment option in approximately 30% of patients with nonmet-astatic but unresectable disease at diagnosis, i.e., locally advanced pancreatic cancer.
In the current thesis, four studies are presented that aim to investi-gate the feasibility and safety of irreversible electroporation, identify current challenges in evaluating the efficacy of irreversible electro-poration based on imaging and evaluate the feasibility of combining irreversible electroporation and chemotherapy.
