Poul Meier Melchiorsen joined Aalborg University Library in 2011 to work in the Pure administration team. The team covers registration, dissemination, and analysis of research output. Poul specializes in research intelligence and research assessment at all levels. The focus for Poul is how to assess research responsibly at a full-fledged university with research in most areas ranging from STEM over Health Sciences to SSH. The Agreement for Reform of Research Assessment – the vision of the Coalition for Reform of Research Assessment (CoARA) – is a great inspiration in daily work.
Poul is ORCID Consortium Lead for the Danish consortium and is co-coordinator of the CoARA network in Denmark. Poul holds a MA in Philosophy and Physics from University of Southern Denmark and a Master in IT from Aalborg University.

Session outline for Leadership for Change
This thematic session engages with some of the key institutions in Europe and beyond who have been instrumental in experimenting with new metrics, indicators, and assessment frameworks. Highlighting the need for integrity, rigor, quality, and impact in science, the session takes a closer look at some of the leading institutions in the reform of research assessment. The session is designed to promote peer learning and leave the participants with genuine inspiration to embark on similar exercises and experiments at the local and national level. Institutional leadership and leading by example are the guiding principles for the session.
