A new vice dean for education has been appointed at the Technical Faculty of IT and Design (TECH) at Aalborg University. Louise Pape-Haugaard, Associate Professor holds an MSc in Engineering (Biomedical Engineering and Informatics) with a specialization in Medical Informatics and is currently employed at the Department of Health Science and Technology where she is Deputy Head of Department for Education.

The right choice

The Faculty's Dean Thomas Bak is looking forward to working with Louise Pape-Haugaard:

"Louise is a highly competent researcher who has a strong profile with in-depth knowledge and interest in the field of education. I am sure that she is the right choice to manage and develop education at the TECH faculty. She comes with a solid understanding of what it takes to develop strong, relevant degree programmes – and she has both the ideas and the energy to drive that development," says the dean, and continues:

"We are facing important changes, not least with the Master’s programme reform. Louise is just the right person to ensure that we think strategically, but are also grounded and have an eye for the daily operations. She has the ability to bring people together around solutions and create momentum."

Louise Pape-Haugaard is really looking forward to her new position. She emphasizes the TECH faculty's deep professionalism and ambitious visions which she would like to help advance and make visible through the faculty's degree programmes:

"As a university, we have a responsibility to offer relevant, up-to-date degree programmes that match the skills needs that are constantly evolving in a changing society. Based on our strong PBL model, we will equip students to work innovatively, solution-oriented and in an interdisciplinary way – both during their studies and in their future working life. In close interaction with the business community, we must ensure that our graduates are ready to strengthen digital development and contribute to sustainable solutions that merge digitalization, technology, people and society."

Louise Pape-Haugaard's first day as vice dean for education is 3 July 2025.
