As of 1 August, the Department of Planning at the Technical Faculty of IT and Design is changing its name to the Department of Sustainability and Planning. This was decided by the Executive Management at the request of the department itself.

- The name change means a lot to our department. Sustainability is a core theme for our activities in terms of both teaching and research. It's a deeply integral part of our identity and our new name reflects that. The name makes clear to us and the wider world what we stand for and signals that we will continue to support sustainable development. Planning and sustainable development go hand in hand, says Anne Merrild Hansen, Head of Department.

The name change went through a comment period with the other departments at AAU, and the Executive Management approved the new name on the condition that sustainability is not monopolized by a single department. Sustainability is an important part of AAU's overall strategy and a large part of the academic identity for several departments.
