The day will give the reservists and volunteers (in the Armed Forces, the Home Guard, the Emergency Management Agency or the Coastal Rescue Service) the opportunity to dialogue with their colleagues and fellow students about the great work they do for Denmark's security. The day will also showcase the many passionate people who are making an extra effort so that we have a safe society.
- At a time when we are experiencing war in Europe, cyber attacks, pandemics and extreme weather, there is more than ever a need for volunteers and reservists, and at AAU we naturally want to help pay tribute to these people, says Rector Per Michael Johansen.
The idea for Uniform at Work Day comes from our neighbouring countries. It started in Britain where on a certain day reservists put on their uniform to go to their civilian job.
Later, the idea spread to Sweden and Norway where since 2019 and 2020 they have had a permanent Uniform at Work Day. As of this year, 2023, we will now also introduce an annual Danish Uniform at Work Day which will be on the last Wednesday in September every year.
InterForce is behind the introduction of Uniform at Work Day in Denmark. You can read more about Uniform at Work Day and InterForce here.
