The two former AAU students and entrepreneurs, Jens Moeslund Frandsen and Albert Werner Laursen, are this year's recipients of the NOVI Scholarship 2026. The award was presented at the AAU Annual Celebration at Aalborg Congress and Culture Centre on Friday, 17 April.
Jens Moeslund Frandsen and Albert Werner Laursen’s ambition is to improve satellite communication with their start-up company PermaSat.
Over two years, they have been investigating how principles from 5G networks can be applied to create more reliable and scalable communication between small satellites. This led to the development of a new approach to satellite communication, bringing modern networking principles into space with the potential to optimize satellite infrastructure.
PermaSat's next big goal is to send a satellite into space with their solution on board and thus demonstrate that the technology works in practice.
The AAU team behind PermaSat also includes Petar Popovski, Professor; Israel Leyva-Mayorga, Associate Professor; and Jens Dalsgaard Nielsen, Associate Professor.
