SU

Kandidat

Læs her hvordan du søger: kandidat

Se mere her: studieaktivitetskontrol og su.dk.

News from the SU Office – May 2020

SU

Remember to apply for SU for your Master’s programme if you complete your Bachelor´s programme this summer

SU is granted for a certain study programme. Your Bachelor´s programme and your Master´s programme are considered two different programmes.

If you expect to complete your Bachelor’s programme before the end of August, and you are admitted to a Master’s programme starting 1 September, you must remember to apply for SU for the Master’s programme as from July if you wish to receive SU in the summer period (July and August). If you wish to apply for SU for your Master´s programme as from July, you can apply via MinSU 1 June at the earliest, since you can apply for SU only one month in advance. If you wish to receive SU in the beginning of July, you must apply no later than mid-June since a processing time of two weeks must be expected. It is not possible to apply for SU retroactively and for that reason you must apply for SU as from July no later than 31 July.

You are not eligible for SU during the summer if you graduate from your Bachelor´s programme in May or earlier. In this case you can apply for SU for your Master´s programme as from September.

If you are granted exemption to sign up for Master´s programme courses while completing your Bachelor´s programme

If you are granted exemption to sign up for Master´s programme courses while completing your Bachelor´s programme, please note that you are enrolled in the Bachelor´s programme thus eligible for SU only for the Bachelor´s programme. In this case you must prolong your Bachelor´s programme at minSU - ”Ret din SU – Forlæng uddannelse”. If you do not have any SU rates left for your Bachelor’s programme, you may apply for a loan “Slutlån”. Once you have completed your Bachelor’s programme, you can apply for SU for your Master’s programme.

If you are delayed in your Bachelor´s programme or your Master´s programme

If you are delayed in your programme, you must prolong your programme at minSU ”Ret din SU – Forlæng uddannelse”. Please note that if you hold a public transportation card “Ungdomskort” or if you receive transportation grants “kilometerpenge”,  you must re-apply for these when prolonging your programme.

Covid-19 and SU

Initiatives regarding SU:

  • Extra SU loan – for students receiving SU
  • Extra completion loan – for students who are at the end of their higher education
  • Increased allowed amount of earnings (fribeløb) – for students who participate in the COVID-19 alert
  • Extra SU loan – for students at higher educations who are in paid internships in March, April, May and/or June 2020
  • Extended period with completion loan – for students in higher education and private education who have used all completion loan or SU and are not yet entitled to ordinary completion loan
  • If you are delayed in your higher education studies because of the COVID-19 situation, you can apply for addition of educational grant portions (SU-klip) beyond the prescribed duration of the study period and thus obtain extension of the support period. However, it is always going to be a concrete decision for the individual applicant, due to the fact that you must be able to prove a causality between COVID-19 and your delay.

You can find answers to questions about SU in relation to COVID-19 here: SU Covid19 - English version

Being a student and having a child – parental SU rates (“fødselsklip”)

You can apply for parental SU rates (“fødselsklip”), if you are having a child. Mothers are entitled to 12 parental SU rates, and fathers are entitled to 6 parental SU rates. Parental SU rates amount to the same as ordinary SU rates, and parental SU rates can be granted in 3 different ways or as combinations of these ways:

  • Single parental SU rates (1 parental SU rate per month in 12 months– no study activity requirements)
  • Double parental SU rates (2 parental SU rates per month in 6 months– no study activity requirements)
  • Mixed SU rates (1 parental SU rate + 1 ordinary SU rate per month in 12 months– study activity is required)

Parental SU rates can be paid to mothers from two months before estimated childbirth – and to fathers from the month of estimated childbirth.

You can apply for parental SU rates no earlier than one month before you wish the payment to take place. You must fill in the application for parental SU rates at “minSU(”søg SU – fødselsklip”). When you have filled in the application at minSU you must send the receipt showing that you have applied for parental SU rates from your AAU mail to su@aau.dk accompanied by documentation showing that you are going to be/have become a parent.

If you start a new educational programme you may risk losing the right to parental SU rates. Please contact the SU Office for more information.

Please note that there are important differences between formal leave of absence and parental absence. If you wish to continue receiving SU (including parental SU rates/mixed SU rates), you must not apply for leave of absence (formal leave of absence through Stads Self Service) since you are not entitled to SU while being on formal leave of absence.

Extra portions of SU (Tillæg af klip)

If you are delayed in your studies due to illness, special circumstances or work within university boards you can apply for extra portions of SU. You can apply on minSU, when you have applied you must download the receipt and send it to su@aau.dk together with an explanation. If you are applying due to illness you must also send a doctor´s note.

Please note that if you wish to receive SU during your illness you must not apply for formal leave of absence through STADS Self Service.

Study activity

You can be delayed with 6 months (corresponding to 30 ECTS) during your education. If you are more than 6 months delayed, you do not meet the conditions for study activity, and you will not be able to receive SU. You can read more about the latest study activity control at Study Activity.
