The new Freedom museum

The new Freedom museum

With inspiration in the wartime dramatic atmosphere, the design investigates how to offer the visitors suitable spaces to interact, study, socialize and reflect during their visit.

Zofias forslag til "The new Freedom museum"

”In my exchange semester in Berlin I visited many inspiring museums. What interests me is how to stage the meeting of the observer and the object. I think a good museum visit must contain learning, experiences as well as time for reflection. The simple act of pure observation can man us more aware of the reality we live in.”

Zofias forslag til "The new Freedom museum"

The placement in the park calls for a building with a limited footprint, why the exhibition spaces are put under ground. The suspended roof hangs above the foyer space, setting an ominous atmosphere before one enters the exhibition itself. By uniting the atmospheric and the constructive idea, the hanging roof acts as the main architectural storyteller and creator of identity.
