Rui will defend his PhD thesis "Performance Improvement of Night Ventilation for Passive Cooling of Office Buildings". All are welcome.

SUMMARY OF THE THESIS
Night ventilation is a promising and efficient passive technology to lessen the problems of increasing cooling demand and deteriorating indoor environments. However, the application of this technology might be hesitated by architects or designers due to the high uncertainty of night ventilation performance that depends on many factors. Thus, this study proposes a holistic method integrating global sensitivity analysis, dynamic full-scale experiments, building energy simulation, and optimization to improve NV performance.
This research can support the optimal decision-making of architects or engineers in the night ventilation field. The work has been conducted as part of the IEA EBC Annex 80: Resilient cooling.
