Invitation to guest lecture with Sabrina Fernandes: Climate Crisis from a Global South Perspective
The guest lecture addresses how the root causes and the impacts of the climate crisis are felt unequally throughout the world although many conversations around Green Deals ignore this.
01.10.2021 kl. 12.30 - 14.15
Although climate change knows no borders, the root causes and the impacts of the climate crisis are felt unequally throughout the world. Yet, many conversations around Green Deals make proposals that ignore the inequalities around transitions to a carbon-neutral scenario.
It is important to push for more radical action and pay attention to the unequal flows of resources that inform responses to the crisis today in order to ensure that a perspective of climate justice is truly internationalist and can avoid a future of ecoapartheid.
Sabrina Fernandes is an activist and researcher based in Brazil. She is a sociologist and political economist and a postdoctoral fellow with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung International Research Group on Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies.
