Evelyn Brodkin, University of Chicago, is newly appointed part-time professor at Aalborg University at Department of Sociology and Social Work and Department of Political Science. Brodkin has held visiting professorships in Australia, Denmark, France, and Mexico; received the Herbert Kaufman Award from APSA; and was named a Fellow of the Open Society Institute. Brodkin's research investigates welfare politics, specifically, how public policies and institutions are reshaping the politics of poverty and inequality. Brodkin is furthermore one of the leading scholars of street-level organizations. One important contribution in this field is the co-edited book “Work and the Welfare State: Street-Level Organizations and Workfare Politics” (Georgetown University Press).
