About the dissertation
This dissertation evaluates clinical outcomes and applications in the setting of lymphoma. The risk of relapse and subsequent outcome is examined in several lymphoma subtypes, taking concepts beyond the time of diagnosis and into the period of clinical follow-up, in particular via event-free survival at 24 months (EFS24). Outcomes are benchmarked against the background population to provide a reference for patients who may be in a cured state or conversely identify high risk subsets of patients. These findings are then extended into development of risk calculators as well as clinical trial design and interpretation. The work presented in this dissertation has impacted clinical management, study design and interpretation in the field of lymphoma, as well as provided important tools for patients and clinicians to better understand risk and prognosis in the current treatment era.
In the past years, Matthew J. Maurer has been collaborating extensively with the Department of Hematology, Aalborg University Hospital on several epidemiology and real-world evidence projects related to the real-world outcomes in lymphoma and development of prognostics models, including a number of ongoing international multicenter studies
